This is a first from Team enCourage Kids, but we are joined this year by Dale Humphries all the way from Georgia! His daughter, Mallory, is our Communications Manager here at enCourage Kids Foundation. Dale is no stranger to running marathons, but he has only ever run them within an Ironman. If you are unfamiliar, an Ironman consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike, and a full, 26.2-mile, marathon. So he is excited to check an official marathon off his bucket list, as well as get the opportunity to run through all five boroughs.
We asked Dale to share a few fun facts about himself to get to know him a little better. He let us know that he might be the biggest University of Georgia football fan out there and has been cheering them on his whole life. He has been married to his wife, Lynn, for 29 years and they have three children, Mallory, Harrison, and Jenna. As we mentioned earlier, Dale is an avid exercise enthusiast and as of last weekend, he has finished 3 full Ironmans and 7 Half-Ironmans. That is 15.6 miles of swimming, 728 miles of biking, and 169.9 miles of running!
Dale is excited to run with Team enCourage Kids and raise money because he believes in the powerful effect laughter and joy can have on anyone. He has loved seeing and hearing about the mission from his daughter and wanted to be able to support enCourage Kids has they continue to help humanize healthcare for children and their families around the country.
We are so thankful to have Dale on our team and we cannot wait to see him add 26.2 more miles to his ever-growing tally!
