How enCourage Kids Foundation Supports Hospitalized Children

Being sick can be traumatic and frightening to both kids and their families. While the medical professionals work hard to save lives, enCourage Kids provides a different kind of healing touch to children dealing with cancer and other critical illnesses.

Support for hospitals that care for kids

We provide valuable resources and funding to pediatric hospitals including supplies, equipment, technology, and physical enhancements. Together, our activities, programs, and funding close the gap between available medical care and young patients’ emotional and physical needs during a stressful time.

enCourage Kids has proudly funded the music therapy program at Blythedale Children’s Hospital since 2013, making it an integral part of their child life program. For young patients in their traumatic brain injury unit, one of the largest populations served by this grant, music therapy sessions are highly effective.

Mount Sinai
Technology: Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital

enCourage Kids Foundation has been supporting closed-circuit KidZone TV at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital since 2005, which broadcasts entertaining, educational, and therapeutic content and customizes programming based on children’s and families’ interests. Patients have reported that watching the channel helped them to better cope when they were too consumed with emotional or physical discomfort.

Renovations & Enhancements: Jamaica Hospital Medical Center

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s Pediatric Emergency Department provides care to an ethnically diverse and under-served community who utilize its services for both emergency and primary care needs. enCourage Kids purchased state-of-the-art, child-friendly exam tables and an infant scale, which raised the comfort level and quality of care rendered to all children seen in the ER.

Comfort Kits: Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital

The Hospital Admission and Comfort Kits at Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital provide a much-needed distraction while lessening the pain, fear, and anxiety that hospitalized children experience. These include everything from colorful sippy cups and teethers to books, puzzles, cards, bubbles, journals, and beauty supplies. enCourage Kids has funded over 60,000 comfort kits so far.
