Not everyone can prepare a child to be ready to walk through the doors of a hospital. That is where enCourage Kids Foundation comes in. 34 years ago, enCourage Kids Foundation opened its doors and hearts to sick children and their families, and our passion for improving the lives of these children continues to drive us today.
Since 1985, enCourage Kids has helped humanize healthcare for children and their families by resourcing impact-driven pediatric programs and supporting the Child Life Community. Serving more than 400,000 children annually, our programs offer relief from the constant burden of treatment, hospital stays, and doctor appointments, while also helping pediatric facilities to meet the unique needs of their patients.
enCourage Kids Foundation envisions a world where every child–regardless of the difficulty of his or her medical journey—experiences joy, hope, resilience, and healing.
Being in the hospital is scary and can be especially intimidating for children. There are weird sounds, unfamiliar equipment, and big words they may not understand. But most frightening of all is their lack of control in this environment.
We help a sick child who has endured countless tests to feel hopeful and better cope with treatment. We provide comfort to the child watching a sibling go through numerous rounds of chemotherapy. We help a mother feel joy after seeing her child smile for the first time in their two week hospital visit.
We hear the concerns of parents of sick children. We understand the fears and challenges that they experience. We listen to the needs of our hospital partners and help them promote well-being and healing for these children and families. Through our programs and support of 282 pediatric facilities across the country, children and families can have a brighter, more positive hospital experience.
