For 34 years, enCourage Kids Foundation has helped humanize healthcare for children and their families by resourcing impact-driven pediatric programs and supporting the Child Life Community. Serving nearly one million children annually, our programs offer relief from the constant burden of treatment, hospital stays, and doctor appointments, while also supporting pediatric facilities to meet the unique needs of their patients. enCourage Kids envisions a world where every child—regardless of the difficulty of his or her medical journey—experiences joy, hope, resilience, and healing.

We are currently seeking to fill the following positions:

enCourage Kids Foundation seeks an intern to support and assist the Special Events Department in their fundraising efforts.

Internship Title: Special Events Internship

Location: enCourage Kids Foundation Office (Times Square, NYC)

Duration:  Spring Semester with opportunity to stay on for the Summer. Dates and days are flexible to accommodate class schedules. Minimum commitment is 10 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with fundraising events – Annual Gala, enCourage Kids Night at Citi Field and Golf Outing.
  • Solicit restaurants and various organizations to support the events through donations to the silent auction and raffle, as well as financial sponsorships
  • Support events by making follow-up phone calls, generating mailings, researching and compiling lists, organizing materials for and working at events
  • Perform general administrative office duties as necessary; and
  • Maintain a working knowledge of programs

Position Requirements:

  • Must be a strong oral communicator and be comfortable on the phone;
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to prioritize, and handle multiple tasks;
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel);
  • Strong written, organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Professional demeanor and enjoys working with others.

Education Requirements:

Candidates should be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in the field of Public Service, Non-Profit Management, Social Work, Public Health Administration, Communications, Marketing, and/or related discipline.

Internship Title: Content Marketing Internship

Location: enCourage Kids Foundation Office (Times Square, NYC)

Duration: Fall Semester with opportunity to stay on for the spring. Dates and days are flexible to accommodate class schedules. Minimum commitment 8-20 hours per week

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Curate, research, design, and write blog articles
  • Perform research on best marketing and social media practices
  • Develop email and print newsletter copy
  • Create effective and engaging graphics
  • Social media management
  • Analytics reporting- website, social media
  • Manage and edit content calendar
  • Work with special events team as necessary
  • Creating and curating video projects

Position Requirements:

  • Outstanding writing and editing skills
  • Advanced computer skills and strong familiarity with the web
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Familiarity with social media channels and audiences
  • Quick learned who listens and asks good questions
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (especially Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop)
  • Working knowledge of video editing platforms (Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere)
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work. This means you are willing to put in the effort/time required to get the job “done right”, not “done right now”.
  • Must be a strong oral communicator and be comfortable on the phone

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

enCourage Kids Foundation seeks an intern to support and assist the Programs department.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Assist with planning and execution of the enCourage Kids Escapes Program, including outings such as museum and zoo visits, holiday themed parties, and seasonal activities
  • Perform daily office duties including mailings, research, compiling lists, packing & data entry
  • Communicate with member families via phone and e-mail to distribute event information, update changes in contact information, and answer any general Escapes questions
  • Attend Escapes events and assist in set-up, break down, ticket distribution, and any other day-of duties
  • Attend hospital visits, hospital parties with Programs Team as needed
  • Maintain a working knowledge of programs and perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to prioritize multitask
  • Flexible attitude eager to support new and evolving projects
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Database Management Programs)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and creative Community Engagement Intern. She/He will play a key role in helping grow the outreach and impact for enCourage Kids Foundation by assisting with volunteer and company tracking, thinking of new strategies for recruitment, keeping supporters engaged, and more.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Help with projects related to impact measurement and tracking
  • Uses Databases, Linkedin, Google, and more to identify companies and employees of companies that could be potential sponsors for enCourage Kids Foundation
  • Draft a company profile detailing the reason why this company should be a good fit
  • Assist with community engagement research, including collection of tools, data, and resources
  • Assist with the creation of outreach tools that help create awareness, engage, and inform companies/volunteers about enCourage Kids Foundation
  • Brainstorm new and creative ways to recognize and appreciate our volunteers
  • Update and maintain internal documents
  • Help with the organization of materials for programs and events
  • Provide valuable writing support in all areas of enCourage Kids Foundation
  • Positively promote enCourage Kids Foundation’s mission and vision
  • Perform other job duties, as assigned (recruitment phone calls, database management, bulk mailings, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Broad-based computer skills including Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite
  • Strong writing, editing, and qualitative research skills with focus on details
  • Internet research skills
  • Good analytical and problem solving ability
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
