As an organization working with a medically vulnerable population, enCourage Kids’ primary responsibility is to our community – our children, our families, our hospital partners, and you, our supporters.
With that in mind, we have made the difficult but prudent choice to postpone our 35th Anniversary Gala scheduled for Wednesday, March 11th.
We know this will cause inconvenience to many of the hundreds of supporters – longtime and new – who have generously contributed and planned to attend. We will miss this opportunity to spend time with all of our committed guests, but we hope you will continue to consider your support to be a worthy contribution toward children and families facing daily health related difficulties.
COVID-19 has already begun to make enCourage Kids’ work with our hospital partners challenging, as healthcare facilities have started to restrict access. And, the postponement of our major fundraising event will have immediate and long-term impacts on the ways in which enCourage Kids supports the children and families we serve both in and out of the hospital.
We are developing plans to replace the funds we would have raised at our Gala, which had a $1.5 million goal. We will need your help to continue our work, especially now. Your additional contributions, small or large, will help our children and families find joy, hope, resilience, and healing.
We are monitoring this quickly changing situation and look forward to rescheduling in the months ahead. In the meantime, we hope you will stay tuned, remain committed, and keep safe.
We have not made this decision lightly and have done so informed by many conversations with our medical partners, our leadership team and Board. We have made this decision, foremost, out of concern and precaution for our children and families, volunteers, staff, and supporters, and related to the evolving circumstances surrounding the COVID-19.
First, thank you. Your generous support brings joy, hope, resilience, and healing to children and families facing medical challenges both in and out of the hospital. We hope you will continue to consider your support to be a worthy contribution. Should you have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are continuing to monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation and all local, state, and federal responses. We will inform all our guests once we have a new date. We are working closely with Cipriani Wall Street, our honorees, and our program participants to reschedule our 35th Anniversary Gala.
Even prior to our decision, COVID-19 has already begun to make enCourage Kids’ work with our hospital partners challenging, and our team is working to meet the additional needs created by the virus. We know, of course, that our program staff in hospitals are vital to the emotional and physical well-being of children and families. Over the coming months, we will be working closely with the medical community to provide for their pediatric patients’ needs in the safest, most positive ways possible.
We are developing plans to replace the funds we would have raised at our Gala, and we are working within our community to plan for the needs of our hospital partners, children, and families. Our goal was $1.5 million for this event, and we will need your help to continue our work. Your additional contribution, small or large, can help our children and families find joy, hope, resilience, and healing.
