Breaking Barriers - World Record EventOn May 11, 2017, Leif Becker, an established martial artist and world record holder, succeeded in setting a new world record by breaking more than 12,000 wooden boards in just 24 hours at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Times Square.

Each of the 12,120 boards he broke, including ones painted by some of our very own enCourage kids, represented a barrier that children with serious and chronic illnesses face, such as cancer, dialysis, and fear. By breaking these boards, he represented the ability to overcome barriers like these.

In addition to Leif’s world record, the event highlighted enCourage Kids message of courage, strength, and determination, while showcasing the bravery of kids and families fighting illness.

On the one year anniversary of this incredible event, a permanent display was revealed in Ripley’sBelieve It or Not! Times Square to celebrate this massive feat and the children who overcome their barriers each day.

Leif is currently on a Breaking Barriers tour, visiting pediatric facilities and sharing his inspirational message across the country.
