More Flags More Fun!

enCouraging Family Fun at Six Flags Theme Parks

Our enCourage kids have been enjoying summertime fun at our various Escapes events all season long! A favorite of thrill seekers and adventurers alike, our annual trips to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ and Six Flags Great Escape in the Lake George area continued the summer festivities.

When 600 kids and their families arrived at Great Adventure on July 13th, the one thing on everyone’s mind was what ride to go on first! From roller coasters to arcade games and water rides, smiles and laughter spread from face to face throughout the day.

In the afternoon, enCourage kids, families, staff, and volunteers gathered to enjoy a picnic with lots of food, dancing and magic tricks from Magic of Marco! There was even a special visit from a few characters like Porky Pig and Bugs Bunny, while Dancing DJs got kids to dance their way around the room.

“From the everyday worries of Alex and going to the hospital, clinics, follow-ups – this is such a treat because we get to get away from the regular life and just have fun as a family,” shared enCourage mom, Janette. “This is really a blessing.”

This year we owe a special thanks to AMC Theaters who enabled us to accommodate 112 more kids and family members through a grant provided by The AMC Cares Charitable Fund.

We would also like to give a big thank you to individual sponsor Alan Arron. This year, Alan and his wife attended the event and continued to fill the room with smiles and laughter from our enCourage kids.

Raquel, mom to enCourage kid Valentina, shared, “If there is anyway to thank the people that do this, I hope they get back as much as they give to the families that get to enjoy these events. It’s very special that people take time out of their own lives to think about us, the people who live in a bubble consisting of hospitals and doctors. It’s nice for it to not be about the doctors but the kids, and allowing them to enjoy their milestones and the fun stuff.”

Up in Albany, over 500 kids and families ventured to Six Flags Great Escape on August 5th. They enjoyed unlimited rides, a catered picnic, airbrush tattoos, caricature drawings, free family portraits and soaked up the sun at Zoom Flume water park!

A generous donation by Albany’s Coca-Cola office allowed us to purchase 75 extra admission tickets for kids and family to enjoy the fun-filled day.

enCourage mom Erika said it best herself – “Thank you so much for an amazing, desperately needed day together. I can’t even express to you how much we appreciate all you do for enCourage kids families.”

Thank you to both Six Flags locations for hosting our wonderful families. We are looking forward to another summer of fun next year!
